At first glance, things might seem a little crazy.  Students are running all over the room, with raised voices and decked out in full costume.  If you were brave enough to look closer, you would find that the students are all actually very engaged in their math assignment for the day…to solve the place value puzzles and break the code that will ensure that we don’t all become zombies by snack time.

Then students researched their choice of a variety of spiders, learning about QR codes and sources in the process.

There was a lesson on following multi-step directions which resulted in some beautiful spider webs being drawn.

We also got to see the magic skull turn water into vapor…a visual of a physical change of matter.

.And to end the day, a yummy treat of Mad Scientist Punch turned into another lesson on matter as it contains a solid, liquid and gas all in the same cup.
