Affording PNA
PNA provides its students with the kind of top-tier education that will return major dividends throughout their lives. We know that every family who considers enrolling is absolutely committed to seeing their child grow as a happy, engaged, and confident student. We also know that by choosing us, families pledge a portion of their finances to private education.
As educators, we are extremely interested in helping families who must stretch to meet that financial commitment. Our Indexed Tuition program is a designated fund that PNA distributes to applicants based on individual financial position.
How does PNA determine its annual allocation for the Indexed Tuition fund?
The Board of Trustees reviews and approves the annual budget and indexed tuition amounts each year. Approximately 15% of gross tuition is allocated to Indexed Tuition each year.
Will my family’s application for financial aid impact our admissions decision?
No. The financial aid and enrollment applications are processed simultaneously, but the two documents are reviewed separately. The Admissions Committee does not consider family finances when considering an applicant for enrollment. The Indexed Tuition Committee reviews each family’s application for aid and determines the amount of Indexed Tuition funding that applicants are eligible to receive.
Will every admitted student who is eligible for financial aid receive it?
Unfortunately, no. While our goal is to support as many families as possible, we typically receive more applications for Indexed Tuition than available funds can cover.
How do I know if our family qualifies for financial aid?
The Indexed Tuition Committee considers many factors when determining amounts, including income, assets, liabilities, age of parents, number and ages of children, other educational commitments, budget, and more. PNA is proud to use the Clarity Application to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the family’s disclosed assets, income, expenses, and debts.
How do I apply for financial aid?
PNA uses an online Enrollment and Tuition Management system, CLARITY, to support the Indexed Tuition process. For detailed information about how to apply for Indexed Tuition, download our financial aid guide.
Does PNA offer other programs or discounts in addition to Indexed Tuition?
Yes, we also offer sibling discounts. Other programs such as dual enrollment homeschool programs and pre-tax College Savings Account (529) funds can be applied toward PNA Tuition reimbursement. Please call the Admissions Office at (907) 333-1080 for more information.
Does PNA offer automatic credit for multiple siblings?
Yes! Siblings automatically receive a sibling discount. Families with more than one child at PNA may also qualify for financial aid through our Indexed Tuition fund, which can be a larger award than the sibling discount. We will apply a sibling discount OR Indexed Tuition for a single student, but not both.
How is my financial status and my ability to pay evaluated if I am separated, divorced, a non-custodial parent, or unmarried?
PNA’s policy for determining Indexed Tuition is based on the principle that all parents and guardians are responsible for the support and educational expenses of their children. A completed Indexed Tuition application is required from parents/guardians involved in the child’s life.
Does Indexed Tuition automatically renew each year? Will our amount be the same each year?
No, Indexed Tuition amounts are evaluated on an annual basis.
When will my family learn if we have been offered Indexed Tuition funds?
Assuming families applied early in our enrollment season (January or February), they should receive a decision on their Indexed Tuition application in early spring.
Does PNA require a minimum contribution from families, or can Indexed Tuition cover the entire cost of PNA?
Indexed Tuition applies exclusively to tuition and our before- and after-school programs. Families are required to contribute at least 50% of tuition. Indexed Tuition funds do not reduce any other costs associated with attending PNA, such as spring trips or other after-school enrichment programs.
Who will see my Indexed Tuition application and supporting documents?
All applications and supporting documentation are treated as confidential. They are made available only to PNA’s Indexed Tuition committee members and solely for the purpose of evaluating eligibility to receive Indexed Tuition funds.
Is there a fee to apply for Indexed Tuition?
CLARITY charges a $60 fee for each Indexed Tuition Assessment application. PNA does not charge additional fees for processing applications.
Non-Discrimination Statement: PNA does not discriminate based on gender, race, color, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, or any other basis protected by law in employment or administration of admissions or programs.
