What’s so important about PNA Graduation?
Graduation at Pacific Northern Academy is a time honored tradition. This is the moment that one can truly see what an education at PNA has brought to the lives of these students. Each graduate delivers their speech with poise, articulation and meaning. Over my 8 years at PNA, I have heard speeches that have far surpassed those of high school students.
When we honor our PNA graduates we honor their whole self. Shields that reflect interests and accomplishments are displayed. 8th Graders are even in charge of choosing the music to accompany their ceremony.
This year the 8th chose Adele’s “When We Were Young” (to be performed by the 7th and 8th Grade) This song will also be accompanied by a video presentation. 2nd through 8th Grade will be performing Imagine Dragon’s “It’s Time“. Both songs are very fitting for the ceremony but more importantly is that the graduating 8th Grade class has a connection to that piece of music. Something in the lyrics expresses how each of them are feeling at this moment.
This has been an exciting year for our school and our students!
Even more exciting is the graduation ceremony will be held at our NEW location!
Graduation is a special event and a time to reflect on each graduates journey to this moment and what lies ahead. To really see the impact an education at PNA has on a student, one only needs to listen to the words of our graduating class. We are a community at PNA, and all PNA families are invited and encouraged to attend this heartwarming ceremony. It will be a glimpse into the future of your own PNA graduate…and the new home of PNA!
This is a mandatory performance. If your student will not be attending Graduation, please email Ms. Katie to let her know so that she can stage the students accordingly.
- The 2nd through 8th Grade are performing this year!
- Dress Attire is required for this event.
- 2nd through 7th Graders should be in their seats in the back rows of the gym by 6:20pm on May 23rd.
- The Graduation Ceremony starts at 6:30pm in the gym!

I am VERY excited about PNA’s new home! As I have been preparing the music room for the big move, I am amazed at how much the music/drama program has grown over the past 8 years! Many memories and the ability to function as our own small theatre company!

With all the instruments getting packed up for the big move, Kindergarten and 1st Grade have been watching the Disney classic musical, Mary Poppins.
Here’s what we have been on the look-out for as we watched! |
- Does this take place during our time our a different time?
- What were some clues that led you to that decision?
- What ways do the actors tell their story?
- What is the real reason for Mary Poppin’s visit?
- What is the difference between most of the movie and the part of the movie when they jump into the chalk drawings?
Just as a designer creates a set, the chalk drawings in Mary Poppins take the characters to far away places!
Ist Grade let their imaginations go wild and created some amazing escapes!
