Why do we play games as part of our morning meeting ritual? The games can have benefits beyond just having fun.

The social benefits of games include creating deeper friendships social cohesion among all peers. This benefit easily translates into more successful collaboration in academic activities.

Playing games teaches students the importance of healthy communication. Games require communicating with peers in clear, positive, and supportive ways. Healthy communication is also a fundamental skill to academic success.

There are many more reasons beyond these as to how games benefit children both socially and academically. One of the most visible benefits is that it helps children develop a positive outlook toward school.
