This past week, the Fourth Grade teacher got lazy and decided to classroom-source the bulletin board the hallway bulletin board. In the picture above, and the video below, watch as the Fourth Graders work like busy little bees to create their very own Star Wars Hero’s Journey-themed bulletin board (and make the teacher look good)! Great work, Fourth Grade!
(Based on how well the bulletin board turned out, I think I will classroom-source that new septic tank I need put in in my backyard.)
The Catwalk Greet
If you had three softbox lights of about 1000 watts each, how would you use them in class? The Fourth Graders decided to try a ‘catwalk greet’ for the morning meeting, and took turns greeting the entire class as if they were in a fashion show. If only they’d had some music (maybe next time)!
Tenths & Hundredths
This week, the Fourth Grade math class started to take a careful look at number placement and decimals. The teacher was impressed by their knowledge, even when mistakes were made! In the following video excerpt, can you spot the small switcheroo before the students and the teacher do?
You Are Entering… The Fourth Grade Zone
Continuing to use the softbox three-point lighting kit for things other than it was intended for, we decided to play a game of ‘Night At The Museum‘ with several of the lights. Notice the spooky, Twilight Zoneish atmosphere this misappropriation of school equipment gave the game! Whoo hoo!
Brownbaggin’ It
The Fourth Grade girls were happy to represent their class in multiple ways, with Keeva, Sonya, Bella, Nevaeh and Isabella all going up to the stage to perform! Check out their performances, below… (Come on, fellas, let’s represent!)
Socially Studying
Fourth Grade took a good, long look at the differences between urban and rural life. We discussed cost of living, commuting, education differences, market availablity and other factors that contribute to the differences between living in the city and living in the suburbs. In the video below, students search their books, interview each other, and reflect on several discussions we had and videos we watched in class to quiz each other on their knowledge.
